In the Garden

The discovery of the earth block, and the invention of a tool to make it, seem to me a real advance in the mechanics of gardening. That most vulnerable container, the flower-pot, is no longer needed in quantity, and all the troubles of transplanting disappear. Such blocks are particularly suitable for the sowing of sweet-peas in winter. In respect of winter flowers, some snowdrops whose bulbs are actually touching the walls of the house are quite three weeks ahead of the rest.
