John Bull As a one-time city editor myself, I've had
plenty of experience of the acute difficulty of finding first-rate financial journalists. So I'm par- ticularly glad to welcome to the srucriatra's financial pages a new weekly columnist, 'John Bull,' whose first article appears in this issue. For the most part he will be spotlighting the emer- gence of some important new trend or develop- ment in a particular industry --he begins, this week, with insurance - -and drawing the invest- ment implications. Alas, with the limited space at our disposal. the appearance of this new feature will mean the discontinuation of an old one- `Lothbury's' company notes. But I hope that readers will agree with me that, all in all, the
change marks a substantial strengthening of our financial coverage and comment, which from now on will be provided by Nicholas Davenphrt, `John Bull,' Custos'—and even the occasional contribution from
