Of news from the Western front there is little or
nothing to be recorded. Winter conditions, however, are beginning to prevail, and we are already hearing a great deal about wet trenches, and consequent inconveniences to, or actual sufferings felt by, the men. The sufferings this winter, how- ever, will be nothing like as great as they were last winter, for we are much better prepared with supplies of all kinds, and especially boots. Besides, the trenches are now much better drained, and the opportunities of using braziers and other moans of getting warmth have been greatly developed.
