Violet Fanshawe. By Mabel Collins. 2 vols. (F. V. White
and Co.)—This is a repulsive book. The heroine is a silly, sensual woman (one of her minor vices is an addiction to sweetmeats and liqueurs), an adulteress in will, who would have been an adulteress in act, but that she discovers that her lover's thoughts are not chiefly for her, but for some valuable document to which she has access. It is needless to say anything more of a book which reflects little credit on any one concerned in its publication.
