On the 17th June, on board the Hydaspes, off Galle, in Ceylon, Thomas Davies Lushington, Esq., of the Madras Civil Service, third son of the late Edmund Henry Lushing,ton, Esq., of Park House, Maidstone ; in his 44th year. On the 13th June, at Benares, of repeated attacks of fever, consequent on a broken thigh, Colville Coverley Jackson, Esq., son of the late Sir John Jackson, Bart., of Arsley, in the Civil Service of the Hon. East India Company. On the 4th August, at the Church House, Windsor, the residence of his nephew. the Rev. Stephen Hawkey, the Rev. Stephen Hurnard Hawkey, Nicer of Broad- chalk, Wilts, and formerly Fellow of King's College, Cambridge ; in his 79th year. On the 6th, at Kinmount, the Marquis of Queensbury. On the 8th, at Castle Howard, Georgians, Countess of Carlisle. On the 9th, at Hendon Place, Middlesex, the Hon. Mary Abbott, eldest daughter of the late Lord Tenterden, Chief Justice of the King's Bench. • On the 9th, at his residence, in Noel :Street, Islington, John Gmbham, of the British Museum ; in his 57th year. At Cheltenham. Lieutenant-Colonel Eward Hawkshaw. He was one of the three Colonels who fell severely wounded at the head of their Regiments in the last and decisive charge at the battle of Albuera, for his services on which occasion he re- ceived a gold medal; in his 78th year. On the 10th, in Carlton Crescent, Southampton, the Hon. Herbert Gardner, fifth son of the first Baron Gardner in his 77th year.
