Messrs. Raphael Tuck and Co. send us a selection from

their Christmas and New Year Cards. " Cards," as our readers are probably aware, is an exceedingly elastic term, and includes a great variety of very pretty and tasteful objects, mostly, it is true, ornamental, but sometimes—as in the case of calendars— useful as well. There are illustrated hymns and texts, pictures of all sorts, landscapes, flower and fruit pieces. No one whu

examines these elegant specimens, which, numerous as they are, are but a few only of the great variety that appears in Messrs. luck's catalogue, but will acknowledge that the way in which they have superseded the valentine of days gone by is an excellent example of the survival of the fittest. All ages and tastes will find something to please in this large series of " cards." For children especially there is a " Noah's Ark," with some well-drawn and well-coloured animals.
