ENGLAND OR BRITAIN ?

[To the Editor of TIIE SPECrATOR.]

SIR,--One of your correspondents suggests that to speak of. " the King of England " is to show discourtesy to Edward I do not think he would consider it discourtesy : his great- grandmother, when wishing to be impressive, called herself " the Queen of England "—and whoever heard of a " Queen of Britain " since the days of Boadicea 7—Yours faithfully,

A. H. BORNE (Lt.-COIORPI).
