The present week's return of the Bank of England shows
an increase in the stock of bullion of 163,7981., as compared with the preceding statement, the amount now held being 14,097,390/. In the reserve there is an augmentation of 196,8531., whilst the other securities exhibit a decrease of 1,873,838/. In consequence of these changes the Directors have reduced their minimum rate of discount to 5i per cent. The bullion in the Bank of France has further diminished to the extent of 620,000/.
