Unionist challenge
Sir: I am surprised that Brian Inglis's excellent argument for an independent Northern Ireland (`Themselves alone', 25 July) has attracted no correspondence whatsoever. Unionists frequently complain that the British media either ignore or misrepresent them, yet they have let go by default the opportunity to challenge Dr Inglis's contention that devolved govern- ment is a pipe dream.
Have the authors of An End to Drift, Messrs McCusker, Miller and Robinson been converted to the Inglis line? Or are they afraid to take him on? Or is it conceivable that they do not read the Spectator? I think we should be told. Ruth Dudley Edwards
