In My Garden A host of new varieties of the
aster we call Michaelmas daisy have been shown this year, and they suggest how easily the plant may be grown from seed, always with the possibility of a new and gracious variety. Which is the best way to grow them? I know one gardener who prefers large single spikes and another who is in favour of a serried mass ; and the very floriferous dwarfs now available help to make a solid tier of the flowers very attractive at this season. It is, of course, best to split up the roots each year, but it is well worth while putting roots of the more lusty kinds out in the wild to look after
