PRIME NUMBER DATES [To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.] SIR, —In

last week's Spectator attention was called to the fact that the date of the present year, 1982, lies between two prime numbers, 1931 and 1983. The last year with such a date was 1878. The next will be 1950. There are twenty-six such numbers between 1000 and 2000. It is an interesting question whether the sequence of numbers with this peculiarity goes on for ever.
