A. Bateman, Ltd. (2s. 6d. net.) Tins little book is one of the most useful of the many mono- graphs recently published with the object of helping those who wish to buy or build 'a house. It contains in the first sixty pages data as to methods of finding the necessary capital such as have never before been assembled in one place. The editor has called in experts who state in a simple and lucid way how those who wish to build or buy houses can borrow from local authorities, from building societies, on mortgage from a bank, or combine life insurance with house purchase. Other chapters deal with choosing the site, building the new house, buying a house already built, fur- nishing, linen, plate and cutlery, pottery and glass, interior decoration, lighting, heating and cooking, labour-saving devices, indoor sanitation, and on making a garden.
