At the recent gathering of the shareholders of the National
Bank of India the Chairman was able to place before the meeting a thoroughly satisfactory balance-sheet, and was also able to confirm what had been said by some previous speakers at other meetings with regard to a recovery in trade conditions in India. In the course of his remarks Sir Charles McLeod expressed the good wishes of the bank for the new Viceroy and commented upon the fact that his great interest in and intimate knowledge of education and agriculture would be of very great advantage to India.
