Sir Douglas Haig said that we had already complete security
in
munitions, but we still needed more guns and more railways. The need of more guns will always remain, for we can never have
too many. If we could make the sky dark with shells, we should even then not have too many. If the German Army could be a subject of pity, we might pity what it is destined to endure in the next few months. If the sky is not going to be black with shells, the canopy over our advancing troops will be pretty thick and heavy. As for railways, Sir Douglas Haig will relax no effort, for he is notoriously a " railway man."
