* * * * The repeated announcements on Sunday and
Monday that "the British Expeditionary Force continues its successful advance through Belgium" were a testimony neither to the B.B.C.'s objectivity nor to its good sense. There was nothing in those days to militate against success. That word should be reserved for victory over opposition. Its misuse is a present to Lord Haw-Haw. So, still more, is the bill with which an even- ing paper plastered London on Wednesday, "Mass Raid on England' Threat." That is exactly the news the Germans want to give us. We need not do their work for them ourselves.
