A TRAVELLING LESSON.

An admirable model for defence provided by Leicester was discussed in last week's Spectator. Since then a scheme has been prepared for giving other counties an opportunity of fruitful imitation. Now a Leicester manu- facturer, realizing that something must be done, actually took down and carried off a number of offending objects. But his great contribution was the formation of a collection of objects,

photographs, hoardings and the rest, illustrating both how the scenery of England can be murdered, and how it can be saved. After its great local success in Leicester, it is hoped that this exhibition may become peripatetic as well as metropolitan. The design is to tour select parts of the country with a shorthand epitome of it as a visible text for a lecturer.
