FAMOUS REVIEWS.

[To THE EDITOR OD THZ SPeCr►TOR."] SIR,—I should be greatly obliged if you would allow me a few lines, while thanking you for a generous notice of the above work, to point out that the spellings Jane Austin and Hannah Moore were intentionally retained from the old reviews in order to show that critics or editors of those days were not very familiar with the authors criticized. The older editors also frequently passed very bad misprints in Greek and other careless spelling.—I am, Sir, &c.,

R. BRIMLEY JOHNSON.
