Mrs Gorbachev

Sir: I was interested in the article about the influence of Mr Thatcher on the Prime Minister (lust the one for Denis', 7 May). But it was not until I heard Martin Walker, Moscow correspondent of the Guardian, speaking on LBC, that I realised the true status of another world leader's spouse, Raisa Gorbachev. She is, Mr Walker revealed, 'a woman who can hold her end up intellectually with anyone on earth'.
