Moscow man
Sir: Your regular sniping at the Guardian's Moscow man, Martin Walker, reflects no credit on your judgment or sense of fair-
ness. Unlike other correspondents, Mr Walker does not hang around in the Kremlin waiting for official handouts. In just a few months, he has provided marvel- lous cameos of life in Russia, on a dacha, in Sibeiia, in Georgia, and simply out shop- ping.
I do not see that giving carnations to Mrs Gorbachev makes him some kind of lack- ey. It used to be called courtesy. I hate Russia and all its deeds. Mr Walker may disagree. Whatever his views, he has every right to hold them. And by now he knows much more about Russia than you or me.
