The Prime Minister assured the House that the campaign against
the Sinn Fein rebels had had good results. The rebels no longer dared to murder policemen in orowded streets. The Sinn Fein courts were no longer held. The police were not boycotted and were now getting Irish recruits, while men who had left the force were asking vainly to be re-admitted. Private citizens were expressing their pleasure at the cessation of the reign of terror. He was confident that order would be restored in Ireland, and with order liberty would return.
