POETRY.

LIMEHOUSE WHARF. O HAVE you been to Limehouse Where many sailors go?

The bowsprits of the ships stick out Over the wharf in row: And some ships come from China (It's a long, long way from China!), Hong-Kong and Valparaiso And Cork and Callao!

Do you know Jim the Limper's house Down by the waterside?

The bowsprit of a ship one day That came up with the tide—

A ship that came from China (It's a long, long way from China!)— Made a hole right through the window Ever so round and wide.

O ship that came from China, I wonder why you came.

Did you bring tea, I wonder, Or spice, or rice, or grain?

Or did you come from China (It's a long, long way from China!) Only to make that big round hole
