It's in the bag
Sir: Dr John Rowan Wilson (28 June) gives an impressive list of medical 'musts' for those courageous travellers who venture into darkest
Europe. I tremble at the thought that this list may be incomplete.
What of splints and bandages; what of per- manganate of potash, most useful for snake bite and for cleaning suspect baths and lavatory seats; what of suppositories for the sufferer from piles aggravated by those 100 per cent carbohydrate breakfasts; and what indeed of the younger traveller let loose in Europe with- out THE PILL? Surely it would be wellnigh impossible to explain this latter need to the ignorant foreign pharmacist who cannot even speak English.
