Mr Wood's departure
Sir: Stephen Glover repeats the serious charge that I 'cooked up' with Lord Hollick the departure of Nick Wood from the Daily Express, because of Mr Wood's political views.
Mr Glover says this 'is a story worth telling', to ensure that such political skul- duggery is not repeated. It would be worth telling if it contained one shred of truth. I was not involved in any way in any discus- sions relating to the departure of Mr Wood. Mr Glover should not use his col- umn to give credence to untrue allegations from what he himself calls 'conspiracy theo- rists'.

Stephen Glover writes: I wrote that I did not know whether Mr Allan was involved in Nicholas Wood's dismissal. Mr Allan now protests so much that my suspicions tend to Fashion victim increase rather than diminish. I note that he avoids offering us any explanation as to what he was doing in the Daily Express building a day or so before Mr Wood was removed from his job as political editor.
