GEOLOGICAL SOCIETY.
Wednesday, March 16th. Roomacx IMPEY MURCHISON, Esq., Presi- dent, in the chair. The following gentlemen were elected Fellows of this Society :—Charles Barclay, Esq. and Henry Bickersteth, Esq. M. Karl von Hoff was also elected a foreign Member. The reading of the paper entitled "Description of a Series of Longitudinal and Transverse Sections through a Portion of the Carboniferous Chain between Peni. gent and Kirkby Stephen ;" by the Rev. Professor Sedgwick, begun at the last meeting, was concluded. Among the donations laid upon the table was a collection of Rocks from India, presented by the Asiatic Society of Calcutta.
