There was a 'No-Popery' tumult at Pembroke College about a fortnight ago, the cause being the presence of a " Papal Chamberlain, an MA of Brasenose College, of the name of Grissell, who was supposed to be using persuasive in- fluences to induce Protestants to go over to Rome. Mr Grissell and the party which entertained him were first screwed up in one of the sets of rooms at Pem- broke; and then, when the authorities of the College had released him, he was hustled out of College with a storm of missiles after him. We supposed that demonstrations of this kind were more or less things of the past. We suspect, however, that Oxford Undergraduates need very little prompting to revive an almost obsolete form of amusement, when they see a good opportunity. Hustling a Jesuit is ignoble perhaps, but so is wrestling with a bargee.
