Mad cow syndrome

Sir: Ruth Rees did well to get a reply from her MP (`l-low not to win friends', 14 April).

I wrote to our (Tory) MP asking that he support Sir Anthony Meyer and saying that I would not vote Tory so long as mad cow disease was raging in Downing Street. I received only a printed acknowledgement slip.

By contrast Sir Anthony wrote me a kind letter of thanks for my few words of support.
