EDWARD GIBBON

[To the Editor of THE SPECTATOR.] SIR,—I am about to begin work on a biography of Gibbon. Since the publication of my edition of his journals in 1929 an amount of new material has come to light which leads me to believe that there may still be a number of his letters unpublished in private collections. For any information concerning these or any other relevant matter I should be extremely grateful. Any documents sent to me would be treated with the greatest care and returned as eo:»1 as copied.—I am, Sir, your obedient servant, 37 Roland Mews, 'London, S.W. 7. D. M. Low.
