Sia,—You say that " the territorial division of India is now settled apart from . . . . minor boundary adjustments in the partitioned Punjab." I fear you are optimistic. Speaking at Delhi recently, S. Baldeo Singh, Minister for Defence in the Interim Government and a prominent Sikh leader, made it quite clear that his community would not accept the present boundary laid down between the East and West Punjab, which is the Sutlej River, plus the Amritsar district ; they demanded a boundary much more to the West.
