Peas and Beans
If you possess cloches put down a few in rows over ground where you intend growing parsnips, broad beans and peas in the coming month. Beans and peas can be advanced by sowing them in frames or five-inch pots so that they are ready for planting out later. Early planted broad beans are much less likely to be plagued by the black fly. Put a mouse-trap in the frame for the benefit of the little robber. Steeping the peas in paraffin makes them unappetising to mice.
