Sin,—Although we are grateful for your notice of our scholarship
successes at Cambridge, there is one mis-statement which I hope you will allow me to correct You speak of Clifton as being "mainly or entirely" a day school. In round figures, our numbers are at present 450 boarders and 120 day-boys, and the proportion between boarders and day-boys has been of this order throughout the history of the school. We are in fact mainly a boarding school, and our day-boys follow the routine, and largely live the life, of a boarding school.—
