The Church and State Question, as Settled by the Ministry
of Our Lord
and of the Apostles. By Robert Vaughan, D.D. (Jackson, Walford, and Hodder.)—Dr. Vaughan might appear from this work a strong High Churchman, who writes with allying warmth against Erastianism. Such sincerity is always commendable, whatever we may think of the arguments it advances. We do not quite see the force of Dr. Vaug, han's arguments from Judaism, and from our Lord's declaration that His kingdom was not of this world. But we have no wish that our obtuse- ness should mar the effect of so singular a conversion.
