Perhaps those - who presaed this ridiculous accusation did not know
that all the coireaPondence of a Prime Minister is written on paper bearing the seal of his office. Every Cabinet Minister his a similar departmental seal. By writing on paper bearing that seal Mr. Baldwin, therefore, did no more than call attention to the fact that he was Prime Minister. Presumably, all the recipients of the letter knew this already. The pretence that Mr. Baldwin was invoking some extraneous influence by reminding people that he was Prime Minister may have impressed some types of mind—but we should fancy very few. Technically it may be true that the name of a publisher, or printer should have been added, but the whole inkention of the Act is to secure that a clue shall be provided to the authorship of objectionable literature. The clue in the case of a letter signed by the Prime Minister is as clear as any clue could be. Does anyone demand a clearer ?
