A Devout Commentary on the Epistle to the Ephesians. By
A. Bertrand Wilberforce. (Sands and Co. 39. 6d.)—We have no criticism to offer on this book, but we may say generally that it justifies the descriptive title adopted by the author. It is eminently suited for devotional purposes. We would suggest, however, the question whether there is any special reference to the character of the time in v. 16: "Because the days are evil." We imagine that the word is rather need in the sense of Jacob's "Few and evil have been the days of my pilgrimage." It days are evil because they are brief and transitory. There is some- thing of the same significance in "unrighteous Mammon."
