Intelligence has been received this afternoon from Manchester to twelve

o'clock last night. General Abernethy arrived at eight o'clock, with his Staff, to take the command of the district. The town and its

neighbourhood were quite quiet. Thirty-six establishments resumed work yesterday, including eight cotton-mills.
