- Poland, for her part., of course, protests that her

demand is wholly innocent ; that, if she becomes a permanent member of the Council the settlement of German-Polish disagreements will be much easier. And in general, Poland joins with France in arguing that if the aim of the League is to keep the, peace the more opportunities there are for the greatest number of nations, within reason, to meet together on the Council the better it will be for the League's cause. But we have already shown why such arguments do not . hold water. We have written further on the whole subject in a leading article.
