Sir: Having read Lord Lambton's review of David Pryce-Jones's biography
of Unity Mitford, one is left wondering to what extent his dislike of the book is based on literary grounds.
Could it just be, one wonders, that Lord Lambton, and all those he represents, are concerned lest people read this biography and are made aware of the extent to which the British upper classes of the 1930s approved of, and sympathised with, Hitler's anti-semitism? Lord Lambton's description of the fury of the Mosley clan—he carefully avoids mentioning Lady (Diana) Mosley, sister of Unity Mitford—is illuminating enough to excuse his failure to give us an adequate review of the biography.
