The remarkable sculptures of Ivan Meshtrovich now being exhibited at
South Kensington have taught us to understand something of the Southern Slav feelings and ideals. Of the facts of Serbian history we are still for the most part ignorant. We may therefore welcome the short sketch of it provided by 11. W. M. Petrovitch in his new book upon Serbia her People, History, and Aspirations (G. G. Harrup and Co., 3s. 6d. net.) A chapter upon the national folk-lore, superstitions, and customs adds much to the book's interest.
