The Rate for the Blob

BY CHRISTOPHER HOLLIS

Mr. Ted Dexter has repeated the opinion which he first expressed eighteen months ago in Australia,

that the best way to get results in Test Matches

would be to offer players a substantial bonus for victory. The men that play for England They do not play for naught.

They want to see the money down Before a catch is caught, And then an extra fifty pound As sweetener with expenses found.

The men that bat for England, They don't propose to win, Unless they're offered bonus pay Before the games begin.

They nail their colours to the mast And have no truck with going fast.

The cricketers of England, In token of dislike, The spinners will not toil, The strikers go on strike, And comrades of the Marxian rule Incontinently bat to rule.
