Pope Leo the Twelfth died at Rome on the 10th
current, after a very short illness, In the s'i'xty-ninth year of his age. The de- ceased was raised to the Papal chair in September 1823 ; and during the few years which he held the keys of St. Peter, he gets praise for havingwatched with solicitude over the government of the Church, pretensions he was rather inclined to exalt in his intercourse with foreign 'sues.
