The French Government is not succeeding in this Baudin affair.
All the newspapers which publish the subscriptions have been fiued by the tribunal, but the speeches of their advocates are twice as treasonable as the subscription, and are published under the law with impunity. Moreover, many journals are still publishing the lists, and suffering themselves to be seized, in the hope that their advocates may excite the enthusiasm which has already raised M. Gambetta to a sort of leadership in Parisian opposition.
