A special relationship

Sir: As an adoptive mother of two, I was appalled at the last sentence of Charlotte Roe's article on adoption. (`Adoption is never simple', 7 October). Speaking, I am sure, for many thousands of adoptive moth- ers, I can assure her that our children are made to feel very special, worthwhile and greatly loved.

We have loved and nurtured them from babyhood, through school years and adoles- cence to adulthood. Now that my son has just married, I look forward with joy to the years ahead.
