A plot to assassinate the Emperor of RUSSIA. has been
dis- covered at St. Petersburg, in which several Poles are said to be implicated. A report has also been circulated that letters from General LAFA.YETTE were found in possession of one of the con- spirators, urging him to the commission of the deed. This the gallant and high-minded old General most indignantly denies ; and we suppose that there is scarcely a human being who would riot at once acquit him of the charge.
