The aggregate receipts of the places of public amusement during the year 1858 exceed those of every year preceding, since 1854 inclusive, with the sole exception of 1856, which, being the exhibition year, gives no legitimate basis for comparison. The amount is 13,878,499f. 60c. In December alone the receipts amounted to 1,484,823f. 71c. being an increase of 117,452f. lc. on those of November.
