The Fulton arrived yesterday at Cowes with advices from New
York to the 8th January. She brings several items of news. The death of General Quitman, one of the members for Mississippi, was announced in Congress on the 6th. In the Senate Mr. Seward had carried a resolu- tion directing the Judiciary Committee to make inquiries into the laws for the suppression of the slave-trade with a view to their amendment. The Senate had called for the recent correspondence between the British and American Governments respecting the slave-trade, especially as re- gards the Wanderer. A bill had been introduced to organize a now ter- ritory in the gold region of the great Kansan-Nebraska country, to be called the Colons Territory.
