SIR,—The following is taken from the leading article in today's
Spectator:
'Mr. Lloyd-George, the Home Secretary. has now been responsible for the hanging of two women in the past eight months.'
What a monstrous statement to make!
I could almost wish that we were living (for a few hours at least) under a totalitarian regime, so that the Home Secretary might really be responsible for one hanging. Whose, you will doubtless guess.—Yours faithfully, J. W. KERNICK Grove Cottage, Chiddingfold, Surrey
