Some Home Truths about the Maori War, 1863 - 1869. By Lieutenant-Colonel
Edward Gorton. (Greening and Co. 2s. 6d.) —Colonel Gorton served in important positions during the Maori War on the west coast of New Zealand. The upshot of this book is that the Imperial troops and their commanders were not to blame for the mishaps that occurred ; and that the really responsible person was the Governor, Sir George Grey. We do not wish to judge on this subject, and must be content with stating Colonel Gorton's contention.
