Lord Mulgrave is to be raised a step in the
Peerage, by the title of Marquis of Normanby.
Lord Lismore will, we understand, be raised to the English Peer- age. The creations are likely, we believe, to be very few ; the pro- motions in the Peerage will be more numerous.—Sen.
In a Committee of Privileges of the House of Lords, Viscount Dungannon and the Earl of Arran have made out their claims to vote for Representative Peers for Ireland.
The Queen Dowager has determined on going to Malta before the Equinox for eight months; and her Majesty intends applying for the use of a man-of-war for the occasion. Madeira was at one time spoken of; but the preference is given to Malta, ber Majesty not wishing to
spend her income out of the British dominions. Lord and Lady Sheffield and the Misses Hudson and Hope Jol nston are the only persons yet mentioned as about to accompany the Queen Dowager; who is, we are happy to say, very well at present, but fears the winter in England.—Globe.
The Dutchess of Gloucester's party, on the 5th of next month, to ber Majesty, is not, as has been stated, a mere "carpet dance," but a grand ball, for which eight hundred cards of invitation have alreadybeets issued. Preparations have already commenced at Gloucester House. Her Royal Highness continues in the enjoyment of better health than she has experienced for many years.—Post.
