In this case, it is a story of two revenants, lovers who were separated by cruelty and craft, till one of them broke the vow of fidelity which he had made. A more modern love•story is mixed up with the old one; and the author takes the opportunity of recommending, or rather implying a recommendation of, some Catholic practices. One cannot help thinking that to make this opportunity was the raison (Nitre of the book.
