The West Indies and the Spanish Main. By James Rodway.

(T. Fisher Unwin.)—This is one of the " Story of the Nations" series. Of what nation—the question has been suggested by more than one of the later volumes bearing this title—is the story told in these pages? Possibly the Carib nation ; but that unhappily disappeared long ago. Many nations have bad a share in this story, not always a creditable share. England, France, Spain, Denmark, and Holland have still possessions in this region. But we need not inquire too particularly whether the book has rightly found a place where it is. It brings con- veniently together a number of interesting facts, and supplies an acknowledged want.
