PRINCIPAL CAIRNS.
[TO THE EDITOR OF THE "SPECTATOR."]
Sra,—By a slip of the pen, or a momentary lapse of memory, your reviewer, in his notice of two volumes of the "Present-Day Tracts," in your issue of February 18th, has substituted the name of Principal Caird for Principal Cairns as the author of the tract, "Is the Evolution of Christianity from Mere Natural Sources Credible ?" Dr. Caird, as you know, is the Principal of the University of Glasgow, and Dr. Cairns the Principal of the Theological College of the United Presbyterian Church in Edinburgh. The two eminent Principals are alike in one respect at least,—viz., in the infrequency of their contributions to literature.—I am, Sir, &c.,
THE EDITOR OF THE "PRESENT-DAY TRACTS."
[We regret the slip of the pen.—En. Spectator.]
